Take the Longer Way Home

There is something quietly refreshing about not being in a hurry.
After a busy week—or even a fun holiday weekend—it’s tempting to jump right into preparing for what’s next. Laundry gets folded.
Calendars fill up. Meal plans begin. Our minds are already living in tomorrow.
But Sundays offer something valuable if we’ll accept the invitation.
A chance to pause.
Research continues to show that moments of rest, time outdoors, and unhurried reflection can help lower stress, improve attention, and prepare us mentally for the week ahead. Rest isn’t simply the absence of work; it’s an important part of how we recover and think clearly.
Today, consider taking the longer way home after church. Walk one extra lap around the neighborhood. Sit outside for ten minutes before going back inside. Let your coffee get a little cold because you were watching the birds instead.
Those moments may seem small, but they’re often the ones we remember.
Life doesn’t always become more meaningful by adding more.
Sometimes it becomes richer by rushing less.
As a new week begins, may you carry a little margin with you.
The to-do list will still be there tomorrow.
The quiet moments are here now.
🌿

Thank you for being here,
-Ashley
